Check out our full article here or if you’re looking for more information regarding the benefits of Threadripper PRO 5000-WX visit this link .

What is Threadripper PRO 5000

AMD’s Threadripper PRO 5000 Series is an evolution of the 3000 Series, using the WRX80 chipset motherboard. An update to this BIOS can make these boards capable of supporting both series’ chipsets. However, it should be noted that there are other manufacturers who have come out with some new board options in anticipation for this launch as well – such (but not limited) to MSI and Asrock.

Threadripper PRO 5000 was created to handle a high number of complex threads and processes. It handles tasks related to Computational Fluid Dynamics, Professional Video Editing, or Visual Effects with no problem – though its best features are still yet unknown (due to the fact that it hasn’t been released).

  • With 64 cores and 128 threads at 4.5GHz boost, the system is ideal for applications with heavy threading and high frequency requirements
  • You can get up to 2TB of DDR4-3200 ECC 8-channel RAM, allowing you to complete tasks and see visuals smoothly even when they are challenging
  • IPC improvements with AMD’s 10nm Zen 3 architecture
  • Introducing AMD Shadow Stack, the most advanced professional security combination on the market today

Overclockable Platform?

There was some overclocking headroom on the TRX40 Threadripper, but not on the PRO 3000 series. With Threadripper PRO 5000, this is no longer true. The only motherboards affected by this are those I mentioned previously by MSI or Asrock. Keep an eye on future posts for more details on how high these overclocking settings can go as we continue to test and validate them.

Who is Threadripper PRO for?

The purpose of a Threadripper PRO workstation is to make high-performance tasks possible. Any person who needs a system in order to accomplish professional tasks that require multi-threading capabilities would find value with this form factor. Applications include architecture, oil gas (and other energy verticals), machine learning, video effects production, simulation studies, and more! There are several resources available which specialize in certain vertical markets; check them out here!
